The Department of Education in Limpopo says it is ready to welcome back thousands of learners who will be returning from the festive holidays to resume with their classes.

One of the key challenges during the re-opening of schools is the placement of learners in few circuits in the province, mainly for schools in the urban areas due to migration patterns.

The department’s enrolment process for 2023 started towards the end of May until the end of July 2022.

According to the provincial spokesperson Mike Maringa, the process has given them ample time to place learners according to the outlined criteria.

“Majority of the applicants received admission notices and others were declined based on various individual reasons.

The department will re-look at the appeals and place qualifying learners who are on the waiting list as per the criteria.

The process will also accommodate parents whose places of residence changed due to work requirements”, said Maringa.

Maringa said the department will not entertain or promote school of choice in the placement of learners.

Centres have been identified in different districts to assist with the placement of learners and Ellisras Circuit in Lephalale is one of them, which can be visited this coming Monday from 10h00.

Parents and guardians are requested to bring along all the supporting documents to the identified placement centres.
