As part of taking services closer to communities, Lephalale Local Municipality, and the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) held a community outreach programme at Leseding Thusong Centre on 14 September 2022.
Speaking during the programme, the acting Waterberg District Manager, Mr Lesiba Pila, announced that the agency will go to the Centre on Wednesdays to render services to the community. This decision follows request by community members who use to travel a long distance to access SASSA services.
The community members who were given an opportunity to engage with the officials, welcomed the announcement by SASSA, saying it is a relief as it was difficult to access SASSA services especially for those who are unemployed and depend on grants for survival. The acting grant manager in the Waterberg District, Ms Molebogeng Mojela, shared with the community members the process to be followed when applying for the R350 social relief grant. She also explained in detail, the reasons why some people are no longer getting grants. Mojela said officials from SASSA will assist community members with all SASSA related services.
