
The Limpopo Liquor Board was in Lephalale on Thursday, 10 November, to meet liquor license holders and to inform them about changes that are coming in the next year.
The Liquor Board told liquor license holders about the implementation of Limpopo Liquor Act No.5 of 2009, that will kick-off from April 2023, which is known to be the new financial year in South Africa.
The new regulations stipulate that opening of business at taverns, bars(where there is online consumption) start at 10h00 and close at 00h00 midnight.
Liquor Stores, grocery wines and wine farms will open at 08h00 and close at 20h00.
Those who do traditional beer can use it anytime, however if they sell it they will also have to open at 10h00 and close at 00h00.
Liquor license holders were advised to visit local police stations to meet with the Designated Police Officer if they need clarity.
In addition there will be consequences for noise pollution.
Noise pollution is considered to be any unwanted or disturbing sound that affects the health and well-being of humans
Members of the community can speak to a person who does noise pollution and if they do not cooperate, they can contact the police and a case will be opened against that person, eventually resulting in a fine against the person in accordance with the noise pollution act.
The South African law, through the Environmental Conservation Act 73 of 1989 and Municipal by-laws protect recipients of intolerable noise pollution.
