Rankgalabu Jan Makgae (31) from Ga-Monyeki in Shongoane 3, popularly known as Dokodoko
started showing his love for performing arts from his early stages, however, he only focused his
attention on the entertainment industry soon after completing his secondary school education.
During his secondary schooling days, Dokodoko portrayed his lighter side of life in comedy and
other forms of entertainment. One of his comic clips was used in a segment on Lehlabile
Breakfast show during Lephalale FM days, to respond to listeners who got answers wrong.
Dokodoko speaks with passion about the entertainment industry, which he has aspirations to
dominate as a versatile performer. He is one of the founding members of Lim’tainment which
was formed in 2019, after meeting likeminded people in Lephalale. As a team of people with a
similar vision and aspirations for the entertainment industry, the partnership saw the offering of
comical plays such ‘Busha Monate Wa Ngwanaka’, which trended and received positive
feedback.
The play was about a young couple and it depicted a man who bought his partner few items at
home and when they were breaking up he demanded those items back. On the day of
collecting the items, his girlfriend’s mother gave him a small container and told him to return the
nice things he also enjoyed with her daughter. Dokodoko said the play unleashed their potential
and they aimed to do more to entertain people.
As time went by he fell in love with music production, to which he still generously contribute to
this day. “People love my songs and this encouraged me to start shooting music videos. I have
so far done music videos for one of my songs, Woza Weekend, which is currently played on TV
Channels like Channel O and Mzanzi Music”, he said. On this MP4, he collaborated with artists
like DJ Call Me, DJ Bazzy and Dr Nel among others.
Dokodoko is often invited to various ceremonies such as weddings to perform, as MC,
comedian or musician. Being part of the entertainment industry and the opportunities, he is
given by other artists to work with, makes him feel so special and honoured. His dream is to
see himself achieving what his heart desires. Dokodoko said the most important thing in what
he does is the love that he gets from people who support him and that gives him the
encouragement not to give up on his career.
