Sabatho Media hosted Miss Teen and Miss Lephalale on the 5th of November at Mogol Stadium. The beauty queens of Lephalale lined up to be crowned the queen Bee.

The event was attended by the regular party people of Lephalale, VW owners and parents in support of their children. There were also some toddlers, also there to support their sisters.

The official program was scheduled to start at 15:00 but ran late to start a few hours later. The contestants only arrived at sunset in VWs from the latest model to the classic oldies. At this point the mood was generally chilled but the crowd couldn’t wait any longer for the show to start. Guest artist Ska Bora Moreki sensation King Monada was right on time, he actually came earlier than I expected.

One of the judges like King Monada hailed all the way from Tzaneen, the true African beauty Ntsetselo Mkansi who is the current Miss Limpopo. Other judges included Miss Polokwane Nthabiseng, Lydia from Lephalale FM and business woman Portia.

On the first round, the contestants had to get on stage and introduce themselves to the crowd and judges. Most of the contestants were nervous and they tried to hide that with a smile, but the judges could tell. Round two was a favorite to the crowd, especially the guys as the contestants showed off their gorgeous bodies in nothing but bikinis. Some of them had bodies that looked photo shopped, I mean they looked like they literally jumped out of a magazine cover. What can we say, some people are just blessed with good looks. As for round 3, the ladies wore evening gowns and were asked some questions, thank goodness the judges did not ask how they would save the world.

The crowd was excited when King Monada took to the stage as they have been anxiously awaiting the performance. He performed a couple of tracks from his album and closed off with the controversial Ska Bora Moreki and the crowd went crazy. There is just something about that song, I guess the people who were dancing more can relate to the song, just saying. The guy and his group can dance, they are true performers.

A queen to represent Miss Lephalale and a mini queen to represent Miss Lephalale Teen was chosen out of the twelve contestants. Miss Personality, 1st and 2nd Princesses also received prizes. They did not share with us what was in the goody bags but a big congratulations to all the winners.

It was a fun night but it would have been much better if most of the formalities were done during the day as scheduled. But we all know black people and “African time”.
