
Eskom and its Contractors in Lephalale responded to the request, made by the Local Municipality to the Local COVID-19 Advisory Command Council for food relief donation, to aid 20,000 destitute families negatively impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown in its surrounding communities.
Eskom and eight (8) Contractors contributed food grocery donations to the value of R50 271.35. As requested, these were delivered and handed over to Cllr Thulare, Chief Whip of Lephalale Local Municipality (LLM) on Thursday, 28th May 2020.
The grocery included mealie meal, flour, rice, fresh milk, baked beans, canned fish, peanut butter, tea bags, cooking oil, potatoes, tomato sauce, salt, juice, washing powder, toothpaste, body lotion, bar soap, and sanitary towels.
Eskom is grateful to the contractors who responded positively to the call namely Amaloba MGM JV, Public Bonds and Projects, Katale Trading, Setumishi ST JV, Hanyani Magaza, Taung Construction, BKM Tshimollo, Eskom and Mooncloud44.

The Local Municipality will be handing over the donated food to the Department of Social Development (DoSD) on Monday, 01 June 2020 at Thabo Mbeki Hall in Seleka village.
According to the Local Municipality, a team consisting of DoSD, SASSA, LLM, representatives from three Local Chieftaincies and Community Development Workers will be responsible for the proper distribution of the donated food parcels.
Eskom continues to support initiatives that helps curb the spread of COVID-19 and alleviate the impact of this pandemic amongst the workforce and local communities.
