
The National Senior Certificate exams start on Monday, 21 October 2024 and this year’s Class has an opportunity to improve the 82.9% mark achieved in 2023.
Compared with 80.1% in 2022, and 76.4% in 2021, Class of 2023 had an improvement of 2.8%, and 6.5% from the pass rates achieved by the Classes of 2022 and 2021.
The Department of Basic Education reported in September that there were 732 448 full-time candidates enrolled for NSC examinations this year, which is 8 400 more than in 2023.
Limpopo had a pass rate of 79.54 %, a significant increase from 72.1% % in 2022 and 66.7% in 2021.
This year the province has 94 000 learners who will sit for Matric exam and write English first paper on Monday.
The exams will run from 21 October to 28 November 2024.
Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba sent her well wishes to the learners and hoped for their great success in their future.
“As we approach the start of the matric exams, I take the opportunity and extend my best wishes to all the learners who will be sitting for final exams in the province, the class of 2024.
We urge parents and guardians to support learners throughout the exam period.
We request churches, liquor outlets and event organizers to kindly avoid hosting events during this time”, she said.
Ramathuba further appealed to everyone to avoid playing loud music and allow learners time and space they desperately need, as they prepare for exams, without disruption.
She added that Limpopo province can do more together, ensuring that the success of learners become the success of the nation, because learners are the future of the nation.
