Limpopo police sent out a warning to the public after ongoing recruitment scams aimed at misleading job seekers by promising employment within SAPS in exchange for financial compensation.
The scammers call prospective applicants for police jobs and ask them to pay a certain amount of money through ewallet and cash send procedures in exchange for receiving competent results after writing their psychometric assessments
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said they have already received several complaints across the province regarding these scammers.
He said police management have initiated investigations into these fraudulent schemes to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Community members should know that our recruitment processes are transparent, merit-based and do not require any form of payment at any stage.
We therefore call upon all the victims who fell prey to these scammers to come forward and report to their nearest police stations,” he said.
Members of the public are urged to visit the official SAPS website to view accurate information regarding recruitment and report criminals on toll-free number 0860010111, the nearest police station or use MySAPSApp.
Some of the things to look out for in order to determine whether job is genuine or a possible scam include:
● When the recruiter contacts a job seeker
● The job seeker is promised to receive the job right away
● Communication appears unprofessional
● Contact information for the employer or company is missing.
