A 9 year old girl was reportedly raped in Marapong on Sunday evening.
It’s noted that the young girl told her family she wanted to sleep before she was told to go get her books in one of the shacks near Marapong Clinic, where there used to be a park across Manamela Park.
On her way back she met her neighbour, a 43 year old man who allegedly took her to his place and spent the night of Sunday, the 11 September 2016 with her before bringing her back to her place the following morning.
According to police, the girl got back to her place around 05h00 in the morning and her guardians were surprised by her morning knock.
When asked where she had come from she told them she spent the night with her neighbour, who allegedly had sex with her.
Police say the girl, who also looks mentally challenged didn’t look shocked, instilling suspicions that the alleged incident wasn’t happening to her for the first time.
The suspect was arrested on Monday of the 12 September and he faces statutory rape charges at Lephalale SAPS.
